When you stay at the South Wind Motel, your room will be stocked with shampoo/body wash, conditioner, and hand soap from our good friends and Columbus’ own environmentally-conscious refillery, Koko.

And if you forget any toiletries, Koko has you covered with spare toothbrushes, toothpaste tablets, and other items.

What is so special about Koko and why did we choose them as our skincare supplier?

First, as one of the few refilleries in Central Ohio, Koko helps our community reduce single-use plastics and packaging waste. They have two shops here in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to a wide selection of planet-friendly home, cleaning, personal care and apothecary products, their shops are also home to their refilleries, which allows customers to fill and refill products, reducing single-use packaging waste. Customers can bring their own bottle, or shop from their Bottle Bar, filling up on everything from shampoo to laundry detergent. By partnering with Koko, we significantly cut down on our own plastic waste, while also supporting a business whose mission is really important.

Second, Koko’s skincare products are ethically sourced with high-quality ingredients that are better for you and your skin. For example, the hand soap in South Wind Motel rooms is “Grapefruit and Bergamot,” and is made by Sapadilla Soap Company. Its ingredients are vegan, plant-based, biodegradable, and scented with essential oils - no fake coloring or fragrances.
